“TUTU” Sweet Sugarplum Party
Ever heard of Christmas in July? Well that’s exactly what this feels like since I’m finally getting around to posting this party! We celebrated our very own Miss Ava Louise’s 2nd birthday with a “tutu sweet” Sugarplum Party at home with all the warm fuzzy holiday vibes – perfect for her early December birthday! I ended up DIY’ing all the decor and food myself this year, in an effort to simplify and eliminate need for bringing in other vendors (except for cake – no skills there, I’m afraid!). Moral of the story: doing it yourself is always more complicated, so if budget allows – I always recommend hiring out where you can :). The party was in the afternoon so for some solid snacking, I did a cheese + charcuterie spread for the adults, and a sweets table for the kids. I even convinced my beautiful friend Persephone from Everydayvogue to dress up as a Ballerina – thank God for Amazon, because she rocked that costume! Doesn’t she look like a natural?? She was a big hit with the kids and facilitated a beauty station with sparkle tattoos, hair glitter and gloss application and also gathered the littles around the tree to read the musical version of The Nutcracker (they loved taking turns pushing the buttons to hear the musical score on each page!) . There was a Nutcracker coloring station, and of course sweets galore. Wait until you see the Fluffy Thoughts custom tiered cake – she knocked my vision out of the park!
Thank you to Maddy at Lisa Blume Photography for capturing all the pretty!
Feathers, sequins and sparkles — oh my! How adorable are these little girls in their fancy Tutu du Monde outfits?

The cake was a masterpiece – it’s an abandoned theatre style cake with gilding, fluffy sugar blooms and sugarplums. I had the idea to do the giant bow and floor of the stage made from actual Nutcracker sheet music – so it’s the sheet music from Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy, printed on sugar! SO cool. Inside the cake, the paper doll ballerina is on stage but there are large ornate gold mirrors with actual scenes from The Nutcracker production printed in them. Fluffy Thoughts Cakes are true magicians…
A beauty station awaited our little party guests! They got to be pampered with glitter hair spray, sparkle Nutcracker tattoos, mini manis, and glitter gloss. Oh, and a spritz of “Pink Sugar” perfume to stay on theme!
Favors included foam solider swords and paper soldier hats for the lads and glitter star wands with pink paper princess crowns for the gals.
In the kitchen, we had spread for the adults…
We also had a cake for my mom since Ava’s party fell on her actual birthday – and it was a big one!!
Ava says thank you for coming!!!
