Haute Homes: Inside the home of Fashion Illustrator Megan Hess
Australian fashion illustrator Megan Hess knows good style. Her clients include Dior, Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, Fendi, Laduree, Hermes, The Ritz Paris, Tiffany’s, Bloomingdales, Bergdorf Goodman and Henri Bendel…just to name a few. Her artwork ranges from the size of a postage stamp to the expanse of a high rise building – she’s even created custom artwork for the bottom of a fancy swimming pool in Dubai. So it comes as no surprise that her dwelling place is equally fabulous – and features a lot of her own artwork. (Fun fact: she illustrates all of her work with a signature Mont Blanc pen, affectionately called Monty.)
The posh penthouse which she, her husband and two children reside was created inside the roof of an 18th century church in Melbourne (one of the perks of being married to an architect, she says!) They used the existing bones of the structure and then customized their dream home, including putting up walls in an otherwise open, empty space. I really identify with Megan’s design aesthetic…old world glamour meets fashion forward whimsy. Enjoy the home tour!
This grisaille backsplash is to die for. Straight out of my Marie Antoinette dreams!
I am beyond in love with this covered patio..a little piece of the Tuileries in the sky.
Megan’s home office is filled with natural light and colorful inspirations…
The master bedroom sitting area combines bold stripes with a neutral palette to balance both masculine and feminine vibes.
Nothing like a good claw foot tub! I could soak here awhile…
