A historic church wedding was followed by an effortlessly elegant waterfront wedding in the backyard of the beautiful home she grew up in. Guests arrived to a long gravel drive lined with candles and overflowing seagrass baskets of blue hydrangea. We used a palette of cobalt blue, white, navy and sea foam green with chinoiserie accents. The overall design evolved from the floor design Julie dreamt up – giving new meaning to “from the ground up.” The full custom tent floor, being the piece de resistance, was a white wide plank hand painted floor and the entire center section featured alternating sea foam painted planks to create an epic preppy striped pattern. The floor design played so well with the beautiful pattern of the Brunchwig & Fills “bird and thistle” wallpaper we used on the bar. Stations of the clients favorite foods were woven throughout the reception, as well as mixed seating styles (blue velvet round banquettes for dining and assorted lounge groupings conducive to cocktails and conversation.) The bridal party and family had two long tables reserved for just them throughout the night, in which we used beautiful garland of pearl lunaria as the centerpieces with tons of candlelight. Cocktail hour was in the home’s front courtyard where arriving guests were greeted with push-pop style blueberry basil vodka slushies and a roaming raw bar. Chinoiserie umbrellas and white lounge furniture contributed to the chic, laid-back style. For the dinner reception, a sailcloth tent built up on the edge of the property’s cliff gave an “infinity” feel to the post-card perfect panoramic river views where a seemingly endless stream of sailboats breezed by for viewing pleasure. The bride wanted the reception to feel like one big party, so a variety of mixed table styles and lounge groupings were used and guests feasted at food stations such as “You’re the surf to my turf” and “Haley stole a pizza John’s heart” and a sushi bar “This is how we roll” which all contributed to the lighthearted feel but all delivered big on flavor.
