Blessings from Above

A little post-Thanksgiving personal blog post…I know it’s easy to go straight from one holiday to the next, but as we are easing into Christmas I wanted to make sure and take more than one day a year to reflect a little more on all that God has blessed me with.  As a wedding planner, it’s very easy to get caught up in all the glamour, all the pretty little things.  Yes, it’s an extremely high stress job but I’m constantly surrounded by beautiful things and people…the most beautiful flowers, linens, gowns, decor, the best food and photography, etc.  Weddings are such a high…I get to see people at their best and their happiest and most emotional moments in life as my daily job.  It’s the norm for me.  And as an event designer, I am constantly in search of the next new thing, the best trends, and constantly attending over-the-top events that are designed to impress industry insiders.   I love it…but frankly,  it’s easy to get jaded.  Sometimes it’s important to stop, take a breath, and revisit the real world 🙂

Top 10 Things I have to be Thankful For:

1.  A family that loves and supports me.  Even though the holidays can be a tad sad and magnify the hurt of those that I’ve lost, it also reminds me of some great memories and how blessed I was for them to have been in my life.

2.  A faith that I can always turn to inspire and recharge me, and reminds me of a bigger picture.

3.  A wonderful, supportive boyfriend of over 3 years that knows everything about me, all my quirks and still loves me!

4.  The girls…aka our pooches! They always greet me at the door with wagging tails and kisses.

5. My dream job with amazing clients that allow me to do what I love on a daily basis and keep a flexible schedule.

6.  Success – I have had great success in a short time, allowing me to double my salary from my previous job in my 1st year of opening my own business.  Go after your dreams!

7.  Good health

8.  Freedom
